The Virtual Classroom Is Launched!

Well the last month has been very busy at the Tucker home. We have been in video production for most of the month of November. We took some photos of one of the video shoots so you can see what it is like to produce a video at home for the web.

This is the production of the YouTube video of the real-time making of my poppy pin. This project took 4 hours. We filmed it in real-time and then Alex sped it up so you all could see it in 3:21.

We learned a lot from the videos of November.
One: we have to use an outside mic, as there is noise from the video camera tape in the background.
Two: we have to use a separate source for photos.
I used the video camera to take stills, and this required us to reformat sequence, which we did not expect.
Three: we have to do video production separate from the manual production.
We ended up with lots of extra work because of weird formatting issues. But all in all it was a great experience, and we feel that we have something really great to offer now!

(Me watching the monitor to make sure I keep my work in the shot)

In 2009 we will have needle-felting kits offered through the web. With the purchase of the kits you will get a unique code number with your kit manual, and you will be able to view the virtual classroom videos to go along with your book, so you can learn the techniques and steps that I teach in the classes I teach here in York Region.

Right now the virtual classroom is available to all students who have been to my classes and hold manuals from my 2008 classes.

I will be producing videos for my knitting classes too, but they will be public. So you will be able to see YouTube videos of my knitting compendiums on the front page of the Motivated Motion Gallery: www.motivatedmotion.com

To see the lead in page for the classroom you can go to: www.motivatedmotion.com/virtualclassroom
You will see there is a space for your video code.......

The Sale Begins!

The Sale Begins Now!
Below are my three designs for give-aways at my Etsy Sale This Weekend (Nov 22 and 23 )
With each item from the shop purchased you can choose a free-bee give-away item for free for this weekend only.

These are my hand made needle felted, with bead embellishments, holiday fridge magnet notepads.

Each post-it note pad is mounted to a piece of craft foam that is sporting 4 strong button magnets. Each note pad comes with a needle felted decorated (reclaimed golf pencil).

You get to choose either the Snowman, the Reindeer, or the Yule Tree.
I have made 9 note pads of each character (32 total)
There will be a running tally on the number of each give-away available.

If you click on the two photos at the top of this article, they will take you to my Etsy shop: http://www.motivatedmotion.etsy.com

Please check out all the participants by going to the blog and clicking on our minis to see what each of us are offering for our sale.

I want to draw your attention to two of the items I have for sale, that I really want to sell this weekend. I have two charity items for sale. One is Harper the Harp Seal and the other is The Goldfish In a Druzy Sea. Harper has 100% of his profits going to the local animal charity I support. The Goldfish pendant necklace has 100% of its profits going to "Neighbours helping Neighbours" which is a group of local crafters in my town of Newmarket, ON who are auctioning off their work to give money to a local family. The Mom is young and has young children and is diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis is not good. So we are raising money to help them with the piling expenses of her care, and the care of her young children. I really need to present both charities with money before the end of the month...they are sooo in need.
Just think of the opportunity it is for you to help needy, get what you want, plus get a free bee gift you could keep or give away as a holiday gift for a friend or family member!

This Weekend Is The NFEST Sale!

This weekend is the first NFEST sale. NFEST is like the Etsy Needle Felting street team! We promote needle felting in all its variety! We are a large group of needle felters world wide who create, teach, and promote needle felting, so more people become interested in the works- either to create their own, or to become patrons of the art, or as the most cool green craft on the planet! :) I am being uber boastful!

If you click on the two photos at the top of this article, they will take you to my Etsy shop: http://www.motivatedmotion.etsy.com

I am being boastfull because I am so proud of my PEEPS here at NFEST. The long term members are the most giving and caring crafters I have ever met, and the newbees are amazing and hungry to be more innovative each day!

Please check out all the participants by going to the blog and clicking on our minis to see what each of us are offering for our sale.
The blog address is: http://nfest.blogspot.com/

What am I offering for the sale? A very cool fridge magnet note pad with pencil which has a needle felted decoration by me on it! For every item purchased from my shop on Sat Nov 22, 2008 and Sun Nov 23, 2008 you will be able to choose one of my freebee items. There will be a couple of designs to choose from and they will come up as costing 0.00 for cost and shipping on your invoice and you will get to pick them like an order item. The rule is, one freebee for every item you purchase from the shop for those two days.

I will post a badge of the items on Friday on the blog here, and on my personal blog, and on my Etsy shop!

Jewelry In Progress

I have started my first mixed media jewelry piece which is combining my Jewelry skills with my Needle-felting skills.

The first piece is close to complete. It is a glass with metalic feature pendant on a leather necklace with magnetic clasps.

There is a needle felted tree frog that will be permanently affixed to the pendant.

Here is the item in progress so far:

Doilies are Back!

We have doilies from Nanny Tucker in the gallery again.
They are currently in the Etsy Shop and Carl will have them posted in the Gallery in a couple of days.

Nanny Tucker is my Mother-in-law.

Nanny Tucker Turned 95 in January 2008. She makes crocheted doilies to keep her hands busy. She makes them without a pattern! Her doilies are lovely, and each has its one special personality, as they are no two alike. I have done my best to join up groups of these lovely hand crocheted doilies she has made to keep her hands moving. Nanny Tucker is from Newfoundland and lives in Ontario now. She bakes bread every day, and still lives in her own home. I will give Nanny more yarn and all of the profits from these doilies for making these lovely pieces for my shop.

Making A Business Move

Well after looking at the stats from Ebay and the stats from Etsy, I have decided to make Etsy my primary gallery selling place.

The costs for posting and advertising are much more effective for crafters at Etsy. I will keep the odd piece on Ebay to satisfy the Ebay customers, and to keep advertising the gallery.

Please come by the Etsy shop and see all your favorites hangin out on the pages there.

The Newest Miniatures I Am Finishing Up!

I am happy to announce that Peepers and CordeRoy are sold, so that means I have to get crackin' on the next items to put up in the gallery......

I just finished this tiny baby lop-eared bunny. I haven't named her yet. I decided I better make more HER creatures as I have had too many HIM ones. So this one is a SHE. Her name will be announced when she is launched on the Motivated Motion Gallery Site. She should be up on the site in around 24 hrs.

I am putting the final touches on "Weird Al-paca Yankovick". Which is my crazy curly haired Alpaca with a cute face. I still have to decide which eyes I am using on this one. I am trying to choose between the realistic taxidermy eyes, or my glass bead eyes.....
I am also working on my first cat. This one is a seal point siamese cat. He is an anitomical model which is spoken for already. I will post him on the gallery, but he will be marked sold when he is finished.

Isn't Weird Al-paca's face just sooo cute!!
