Winter Sabbatical

As some folks know, I recently had to have another surgery.
It was unexpected, and it has caught me at a time of my life where I really need my body to work for me, and I am finding that my body is not so happy at the moment.
So I have made a decision to take a winter Sabbatical.
I will still be creating, but with no deadlines or markers. I am finding trying to get my stock photos processed and ready for the Etsy Shop is very difficult for me right now.

I also have some writing commitments for 2011, and a presentation committment, and I just cant keep up with the networking and crafting, plus write at this time.

I thought long and hard about this, and I feel the best thing to do is to concentrate on the writing at the moment.

I won't be unreachable. This blog will continue, and The Motivated Motion Gallery Facebook Page will continue. I may even get into the studio from time-to-time, and you might see me live and streaming some days. But most of my time will be busy researching a presentation paper, and finishing a manual, and working on a fiction piece. Three things that I have been working on part-time, and now need my full-time attention.

If you need a commissioned piece, or would like to buy a piece of mine you have seen, please contact me and I will open the Etsy shop for the transaction, then close it again.

I can't quite say how long the shop will be closed, but I am hoping that I will get my written work done faster if I don't spread myself too thin....

Silence Does not mean I have not been working Hard!

This summer has been a time for catching up, shaping up and stepping up.

My Son and I took on a huge task of participating in the Toronto Walk For Women's Cancers and a great deal of our time has been spent fundraising and training.

This weekend is the walk and we are going to have a blast.

I will have pictures and stuff later!

I have not been idle in the studio, but I have had to change my working and my vocation for a bit, as I am still plagued by this stupid frozen shoulder! It will soon be a year since the fateful injury.
I have had to hang up my knitting and reduce greatly my needle felting for the most part of 2010. I have done one needle felted piece so far, and I soon will release a new line of cobweb felted (nuno felted, or wet felted) scarves and accessories and shawls)
This hot hot summer was perfect for wet felting and I have taken advantage of the weather to move the studio outdoors and do most of my wet felting in the garden.

I will release the new line for October 1st.
I will give you a taste of the new line now and show you my prize work!
This shawl is called: The Flower Of Hope
It was inspired by all of the folks we got to meet and share our story with through our Cancer Charity fundraising, as I survived two surgeries this winter to overcome a cancer re-occurrence from cancer I had in 1993.

The piece took me 15 hours to make. It is so big I had to piece and tape tons of bubble wrap together and felt the whole works on my driveway!

The huge daisy blossom takes over the piece. It is made of wool and silk fibers. It is extremely lite weight and so so warm! I wore it out in some rain and it kept me dry too! (I had to quality control test it! Plus I wanted everyone to get to see me in it once before some deserving sole buys it up!)

So here is your earlybird preview of the shawl! It will sell for $200.00 and will have free shipping.

If you want to buy it up before everyone gets a chance you will have to contact me quick so I can make it a reserved sale! The funds for this item will be added to my Walk For Women's Cancer fundraising. If someone buys it before this Friday they will get a 2010 tax receipt for it.

This is just a reminder too that everything sold in my Etsy shop except for the Lop-eared Lulu bunny will have its proceeds donated to the Walk For Women's Cancer Charity until the end of September.

October 1st to January 31 the proceeds will go to Motivated Motion to buy supplies for the following year.

The shawl will remain in the Charity section of the shop until it is sold, and it is guaranteed always to have its proceeds go to the charity. And Lop-Eared Lulu bunny proceeds go to an animal rescue, foster and adoption charity in York Region.

Shop Is Still Closed

Life in the Motivated Motion Studio is still quiet at the moment.
It has taken me longer than I expected to recover from the two surgeries I had this winter, and I am still plagued with my frozen shoulder.

Right now it is still a bit boring here as the studio room has not been lit up in quite some time.

I have lots of ideas ready to burst out of me, but my body has not bounced back enough to get to work.

Please be patient, and when I return you will see some very quick changes to the web site and the blog once I get going. The next few weeks I will be working in the background with the web developers to create a new look for the blog and the Gallery!

There will also be a nice sale in the Etsy shop of all the items displayed once I open it again.
I will be reducing all of the old Needle Felting pieces by 25% of their original price and the Steampunk and Geekery Jewelry will be 10% off, plus the stuff that was free shipping will remain free shipping so you need to remember to be a sneaky shopper so you can save on your shipping costs too! Update On Why All Is Quiet

I hope this holiday season finds you all well.
It does not find me well.
In early October I was diagnosed with Cancer.

In September I had injured my shoulder really badly in a freak accident, and I tore the bicep and the superspanatus muscle and damaged the rotator cuff. So I knew I was in trouble with a shoulder injury and looking at immanent surgery.

I spent the last few months in physiotherapy to try to release the shoulder which had become completely frozen. On Dec 2 I had surgery to excise the cancer and it was successful, yet the shoulder problems are remaining long after I am recovered from the surgery.

I loaded my last items in the shop in early Novemeber, and I have been forced into rest, just taking care of the business as it stands. I am only able to type this week for the first time in months.

I have been able to play a few games if they only require mouse action, but a computer problem just before the surgery put all my internet fun pretty much at a hault, with spiratic glimpses at my email through computers in the house I cannot use because their ergonomics don't match my need.

It is a strange way to be haulted completely from stuff.

I have had limited success incorporating my physio exercises into a craft work routine. I am slowly creating a new line of noni felted scarves for the beginning of the release of my new line for 2010. I believe you will see a lot more decorating and fashion items added to the line this year. It will all still be in keeping with the fibre art and geekery/steampunk idea.

The Noni felted line was something I held back because I was trying to find something about wet felting that I could really get a grip on and run with......I found a little niche. I got some really awesome face wool that is raw. I am making really organic scarves and shawls with them. The scarves are for girls or guys.

I will be putting out sneak peak photos to folks who follow me on facebook and those who are fans of my shop on facebook. So if you want to see the line early before it goes for sale in the Etsy shop, then on my facebook friends list you need to be! My facebook and fan page links are in the sidebar of this blog.

**NOTE I won't open any files you send me in email regarding these request emails. I will only look at text.**

What materials do you need?

Yarn: DK or Sport Weight yarn (DK is my recommendation but a sport weight would end up just a bit larger.) You will need:

SMALL SCARF(42in/107cm long)-requires 312 yrds/285m of yarn
MEDIUM SCARF(52in/132cm long)-requires 416yrds/380m of yarn
LARGE SCARF(84in/214cm long)- requires 624yrds/570m of yarn

I recommend a natural fiber, but it is up to you.

Your needles will have to be circular needles with a long cord.....at least 30inches I recommend something around 40inches.
The size of the needles will depend on the yarn you choose. Use the needle size recommended on the band of the yarn ball. If you need me to show you where to look on the yarn ball for the needle size then pop into one of the broadcasts I have going, and ask me in chat to explain this... in the next week or so and I will show you in the broadcast.

You will also need a yarn needle for sewing in ends.
You will also need scissors
You will also need a tape measure

Plus a note pad of lined paper and a good pen or pencil (a highlighter would be a good idea too)

Make sure you try to catch a few minutes of another broadcast of mine just in case you have issues with needing flash upgraded or need to ugrade your video viewer etc.

A Beginner knitter who has cast on, Knit, and Purled before can do this scarf.
An Intermediate knitter will have no problems with this scarf.

How To Use One Of My Mandalas

Here is a video I created showing how one would count the principles of 8 on my Lotus Mandalas.
These Handmade mandalas have 8 petals per side and 8 beads per side. Pluse 8 twin petals in the middle.
A mandala is used to repeat a prayer or mantra over and over again for meditation. Much like a Rosary beads are used to say prayers and blessings.
This video shows how you can manipulate my Mandalas into shapes as you do your meditation. This allows the user not to concentrate on the number of repititions, but on the mantra itself.

House Elf Sock Keychain

I created these cute miniature House Elf Socks! I knitted them like flap heal socks in miniature on size 0 needles.
I am using proper sock yarn to make them.
I put them on a one inch key ring with a jump to a metal clasp so you can hook it to your purse for security.

I Am Beta Testing For Etsy-Good Excuse for a Sale!

I am part of the second string of beta testers for the Etsy Rearrange feature.
I can rearrange my shop face items from page to page and other testers can see my changes.
The public at large will be able to see the changes in a few weeks.

I had a coincidental situation occur right at the same time I began my test on Tues. It seems that on July 27th half of my items went stale and when I reopened the shop from Vacation Mode on Monday all my items were still in my shop, and so they were on Tues when I began the test.

I guess on Tuesday I did enough action on my shop interface to have the lists catch up to the stale dates through the data stream and in the middle of my first test I lost half my wares.

I was confused for just over 24 hrs cuz nothing was in the Inactive area where it says to look.
Then at the last minute (just after I sent a trouble ticket to Etsy) I see The Expired category in My Etsy, and I checked it. Low and behold the missing wares were expired and the date they expired was July 27th. So the reopening of the shop and the activation of the beta test must have sinked the date and zip they were all gone.
Sigh... I had to get all those items renewed
It gave me an oportunity to see what happens in the beta test when you relist something.

So seeing I am so lame brained and can't find an expired listing if my life depended on it....I have just removed all the shipping from all of the doilies. Free shipping anywhere!
And just to remind you that the doilies are also a great way to get one of the higher priced needled felted pieces at a great reduction in shipping cost if you incorporated the SNEAKY SALE RULES to your multiple item order.... :-)

A certain someone will be getting this cute replica of their pet in the mail quite soon.
I am done the basic miniature but I will spend a few more hours defining some details on the face and legs, but she is basically done.

So far she has taken 30hrs of needle felting to get her to this point.

I am toying with what to do with her eyes. I have amber eyes and brown eyes and I keep switching them, as I am trying to resemble that liver on liver the best I can.

I am not so bent up about it though as it seems like a minor concern :)

I hope you like her.
She won't be for sale in the shop, but I will use her pic in the shop to represent a commissioned piece option. She is a miniature Tufted Needle Felted piece that is a replica of a real pet.

UPDATE:

I finished Timbers now. I didn't do too much to her, but I did change her eyes a bit and made her neck and main more pronounced which aged her.

Miniature Needle Felted Wedding Cake

I am heading to a bridal shower today for my second cousin.
I thought I would build her a needle felted wedding cake.
This is my first miniature Wedding Cake but it won't be my last. I intend to make Miniature Wedding Cakes one of my feature commissioned work options to customers.

I hope I don't give away a surprise! I hope I don't.
When a pet dies it is devistating. We get so attached to our pets they become a member of the family.
I received a very emotional letter from a person inquiring about rabbits on my site.
After a brief interchange of emails I realized the person was looking for a present to help overcome a loss of a pet.
I suggested a commissioned miniature replica of the pet.

On my Etsy page I have examples of commissioned pieces that I have done, which act as commission order for your own commissioned miniature. I suggest your pets or your favourite teddy bear. My Son (the Rock Star) who is so Heavy Metal and wears black-commissioned a miniature of his favourite teddy bear so he can have it in his pocket when he travels (see Pinky on Etsy)

As I wrote earlier this week. I used my new technique of Tufting to add petable fur to the rabbit.

So today I introduce to you the finished piece after his Garden Photo Shoot! This little rabbit is so special to me he got to perch on my very special Amethyst with the Maple Leaf (Canada) flaw.

Breath of Life into my Crafting

For those of you who know me personally, or those who have been following my Motivated Motion blog for a long time, you already know this story......

I want to tell the new readers why I appreciate them so much. New readers from Facebook and Etsy and International Crafters on Twitter. Folks who are my Etsy customers and my great Crafting friends I hang out with here in York Region, in Ontario Canada.

My Grandmother was a pretty well-known Wedding and Trusseau designer in Toronto...back in the day! During WWII she financed and purchased a home for my Mom and Aunt and Her while they waited for my Grandfather to return from the war. That is really how it all started....

When I was a child I spent a lot of time with my Grandparents as we lived really close to them, and my Grandmother taught me everything I know about crafting and cooking. She could do anything.

I learned sewing, crocheting, knitting, leatherwork, ribbon work, paperwork, painting and sculpting, sketching, and more in my Grandparent's kitchen and I am so greatful for it.

I went out into the world with the idea in my head that I could do anything! I was a scientist for a while after my first degree. Dental science was my field (which is where I got really used to working in miniature) Then I had my family and stayed home with my kids and helping out at their school. I got a chance to be an online editor and that opened up my world to the international world and I got a chance to write internationally for a brief time (an experience of a lifetime)
When I returned I did a complete 360 in my work vision and went off to drive a long haul team transport truck, driving 20,000 miles a month.
I loved trucking. I was alone with my crafty thoughts and had a craft on the go all the time on the road. I loved being a nomad.
In 2003 I retired from trucking and opened a local driving instruction company. I had become a diabetic and wanted to stay in Canada while managing my diabetes.
In 2005 a sudden illness debilitated me. I got shingles of the brain which caused permanent nerve damage to my head. Once I knew I would not die of this problem I set myself to find a New Normal and carve out a new life for myself that could accept my limitations and keep me satisfied.
I could not craft at first. I had too many bad symptoms that would prevent that, so I blogged at the encouragement of my Sons. This opened a whole new world for me. My eldest Son stayed home one summer to help me learn html while I recovered from this really disabling affliction. (I could not speak correctly and my vision was blurred and I had a migraine 24/7 for a year)
Today is 2009 and I have been crazy crafting to sell for over a year now. I had a great success on Ebay but made a leap of faith to solely Etsy last summer and I haven't looked back!

I am in a cutting edge therapy program to manage my pain without heavy drugs, and I am crafting gangbusters! Sometimes I don't get a chance to post new things on Etsy because I am now creating virtual classrooms for my Needle Felting workshops, manuals for my classes and I am teaching classes on knitting and needle felting as much as my body will allow!

I am happy and greatful for these wonderful networking tools starting with Etsy!
I am delighted to get to connect with other like-minded people through Facebook and Twitter!
I am inspired when I see how different all of our works are!

I know everyone has their own story about why they are crafters. I want to hear your story too!

Thank You to everyone for inspiring me every day.

Tufted Needle Felting

I have tufted needle-felted works before for effect, but I have never tufted a whole piece before.

Today is a landmark day for me in this aspect.
Today I spent 8 hours tufting a commissioned piece I am doing.
After I finished the great little needled felted rabbit, it was just missing something.

I could not put my finger on what it needed.
I knew I wanted to tuft a bit of the top of the head and face and after I finished that I realized that the piece took on a life of its own and began to get the dimension that the rabbit needed to look realistic.

I then set out to tuft the whole piece.
Tufting is basically adding hair strands individually to create 3D fur.
You can trim the fur to the depth you want. What I wanted was something petable so I went with a velour consistancy.

My first exposure to tufting by hand was with Canadian Aboriginal women who tuft beaver and elk and moose hair into small 3D pictures. I took my skill as a needle-feltor and applied this ancient technique of tufting to it. Needle Feltors do use a similar technique for adding long shaggy hair to a piece, but I have never actually seen it trimmed and tufted before my own works.

I am so stoked by doing this I think I will write a manual on it. I am really happy with the
technique.

I found out last night that there is an Etsy TweetUP in Toronto today!

I was so excited to hear this!
I also saw about the TweetUP on Jessica Doyle's TweetFeed.
She said she had traveled into Ontario for the TweetUP!

In 2006, when I became a serious blogger, Jessica Doyle's blog was one of the first I started to read regularly. She is a great artist who has written about her work, her struggles, at times being homesick, and lifesick, and about her artistic routine.

I was tickled pink to think that now we could meet face to face.

I am excited about this.
The day I switched to be an official Etsy Seller, and left as an official (other web selling service) seller was an excellent day for me.

I went to Etsy on the suggestion of a friend who was a seller. She said,"You should really look at Etsy." So I did, and never looked back!

Why is Etsy so good for the crafter? The answer is simple. You are networking with like-minded people who want you to succeed. Everyone in Etsy is following their passion and dream--> To be able to share their hand-made products, or to be a collector of hand-made products and gifts.

The Etsy family has Teams, Groups, Discussion Boards, Tutorials, Advertising, and Features of every subject or craft product available on Etsy. You can make friends with other crafters and you can support them as they support you in your endeavour.

Nerd/Craft Combo in New York-NYC Resistor

In Brooklyn NY there is a cool Hacker space called NYC Resistor, this group combines the like-minded Nerdiness of Geeks and Crafters. I think this is awesome!

If I could make an armchair analysis of why this works.....it is completely because of the psychological profile that makes a Hacker a Hacker and a Crafter a Crafter. It is the same profile.

Those that are really good at Hacking (programming, developing, reverse analyzing, and engineering) have the same mindset as a person who would be good at carving or faceting or or knitting. These are very patient people who need to be a combo of kinetic and digital/analytical learners.(as are drummers, and photographers and artists alike). So it is no surprise that a lot of folks who love gaming and programming and hacking, also have craft hobbies and are into music, and some are in bands...

I was like that. I was a race car driver, I was in bands, and from the time I was old enough to hold something in my hand I have crafted. I love video games and I am way into music in a big way.

Before computers, folks who were great crafters were also great at intellectual pursuits that required lots of observation analysis of data- like anthropology or archeology. The development of computers in the digital age brought a new interest for this intellectual crew.

NYC Resistor has tapped into the base of the productive makeup of this community group with the perfect balance of Nerdiness.

Inside The Studio This Weekend

This two week period is filled to the brim with workshops and lessons and prep for the next manuals. I am also taking some time in the studio to do some re-organizing.

It takes so much time to re-org a room.
I started over a week ago, but didn't get very far because I was committed to tons of stuff to do elsewhere.

I have workshops planned, and my weekends are full.

This weekend was supposed to be the first Rose workshop class but I ended up unwell on Saturday, so I have had to postpone it until May 2nd.

I opened my third compartmentalized container for my roving. I have tried to organize like colours but not like fibre.
Now I am trying to figure out how to store the large cases. I toyed with the idea of attaching them to the wall of the closet, but that idea was scrapped quickly when I realized there was not enough room on the wall for 3 cases!

My weekend craft projects are Ruffled Cravat and the Ishbel Shawl/Scarf.

I had an awesome idea for marketing the Needle-Felted Rose kits. I put the roving and needles into a dollar store bud vase for each student so they had a bud vase to display their finished rose.

This rose turned out even nicer than the first ones I did. I like that about needle-felting. If you try to repeat the object it will improve with each one made.

If you are in York Region, Ontario and you are interested in sending your kid (10-17yrs old) to craft camp to either do: "Knit Animals" or "Needle-Felt Your Way To Halloween" this summer, I am toying with the idea of doing a couple of 4 day camps. They would be from 10:30-2:30 Tues- Fri, or 11:30-3:30 Tues- Fri during selected weeks in the summer. There will be a limit to 4 kids per class and the age limit is definitely 10 minimum. You will have to provide a packed lunch.
COST WILL BE $160.00(for the 4dy camp) plus materials
(if Mom's want to participate as a Mom and kid duo then Mom will get their own fee as $80.00 plus materials)

Fleecy Fibre And Bustin' Out Bunny Classes This Weekend

I got some awesome face wool from Gemini Fibres. The top one is dark and the bottom one is called badger face...

I got my kits ready early for this weekend's workshops. The kits contain Roving, felting needles, a sponge and beads to make two bunnies, plus I have a manual for each kit. All bunny designs created and designed by me.

I will be at Ewephoria in Richmond Hill (Oak Ridges), on Yonge St. The workshop is 11-5 Saturday.
I will be at Unwind Yarn House in Newmarket, on Main St. The workshop is 10-4 on Sunday.

Tonight is the Jeremy Hotz show in Kitchener.
We have front row tickets!

Jeremy always does a "meet-in-greet" for the fans after the show.
I have some photos from the last show I have matted for him to sign, and I am going to give him a miniature of his Dog Sam.

Don't tell him! LOL

It took me 30 hours to complete Sam. I had a couple of small photos that showed me his shape and colours. It was interesting making a long-haired dog. I have to basically affix every long hair on its own then when all the hairs are in place I have to groom him! I didn't know grooming was so difficult! I now appreciate the work my friend Pauline does....

I can just imagine the weirdness of it all......Jeremy Hotz's Canadian fan gives him a miniature of his dog made of.......matted ~~hair~~ wool! I am sure I have just given him a new line for his show LOL

The Needle Felting Hiadus Is Over

It seems like forever since I have properly needle felted.
I have been quite busy these last months with knitting classes I am teaching. Plus I have had some computer problems that have slowed me down a lot.

I am in the middle of a new project.
It is Sam The Dog.
It is a miniature replica of a famous comedian's dog.

I don't want to reveal too much yet.

I will be working on it full-time, all week, and hopefully it will be done for Saturday.

I will have photos when Sam is all finished.

We are 12 days into the new year and I have not had a minute to post anything on here.
Well it is typical of a crafter's life to build all of the goodies to sell on Etsy and to local customers, then leave yourself very little time to get your personal gift crafting done.
This means, of course, that I have the last gifted hat and scarf set done just today!
Poor Amber probably gets most of my gifts way late!
I still owe her a tank halter and a shadow knitted DNA scarf, which are both well started, but are either too complicated to finish quickly, or I end up getting a paying gig that has to come first.
My family is soooo patient with me.

So in the Needle Felting Homefront: I am working on my first facial likeness. It is a Marilyn Monroe evening bag. It has a picture of Marilyn on the front and it is a bit 3-D. (not double D)
I am also working on a siamese cat, and a miniature bunny.
I am developing the patterns for a needle felted heart pendant necklace and I am launching that class at Ewephoria.ca
I am developing my Bunny class and I am also doing some non-needle felting classes.

In the Month of January I am teaching beginner knitting for 4 classes and the goal is to complete a modern slouchy beret and scarf set.
In February I will begin to teach the beginner "My First Sweater Class"
I would say that it will be 4 wks in length too.

The Virtual Classroom Is Launched!

Well the last month has been very busy at the Tucker home. We have been in video production for most of the month of November. We took some photos of one of the video shoots so you can see what it is like to produce a video at home for the web.

This is the production of the YouTube video of the real-time making of my poppy pin. This project took 4 hours. We filmed it in real-time and then Alex sped it up so you all could see it in 3:21.

We learned a lot from the videos of November.
One: we have to use an outside mic, as there is noise from the video camera tape in the background.
Two: we have to use a separate source for photos.
I used the video camera to take stills, and this required us to reformat sequence, which we did not expect.
Three: we have to do video production separate from the manual production.
We ended up with lots of extra work because of weird formatting issues. But all in all it was a great experience, and we feel that we have something really great to offer now!

In 2009 we will have needle-felting kits offered through the web. With the purchase of the kits you will get a unique code number with your kit manual, and you will be able to view the virtual classroom videos to go along with your book, so you can learn the techniques and steps that I teach in the classes I teach here in York Region.

Right now the virtual classroom is available to all students who have been to my classes and hold manuals from my 2008 classes.

I really need to present both charities with money before the end of the month...they are sooo in need.

He is a Needle Felted Snowman who's body is made of Falkland wool and Bamboo combined. He is soooo soft!

He stands 4.5 inches tall. He would be a great table decoration!

I am very excited!
It has taken me a little while to figure it all out....but I think I have finally figured out how to manage my Etsy shop to its best potential.

I like the set up for Etsy much better.
It is a much more over 40 women friendly. Hee hee!
I find its instructions and tutorials don't make me feel like I am an idiot!
I actually can understand what they want and need without much tears or hassle.

I have started my first mixed media jewelry piece which is combining my Jewelry skills with my Needle-felting skills.

The first piece is close to complete. It is a glass with metalic feature pendant on a leather necklace with magnetic clasps.

There is a needle felted tree frog that will be permanently affixed to the pendant.

Doilies are Back!

We have doilies from Nanny Tucker in the gallery again.
They are currently in the Etsy Shop and Carl will have them posted in the Gallery in a couple of days.

Nanny Tucker is my Mother-in-law.

Nanny Tucker Turned 95 in January 2008. She makes crocheted doilies to keep her hands busy. She makes them without a pattern! Her doilies are lovely, and each has its one special personality, as they are no two alike. I have done my best to join up groups of these lovely hand crocheted doilies she has made to keep her hands moving. Nanny Tucker is from Newfoundland and lives in Ontario now. She bakes bread every day, and still lives in her own home. I will give Nanny more yarn and all of the profits from these doilies for making these lovely pieces for my shop.

Well after looking at the stats from Ebay and the stats from Etsy, I have decided to make Etsy my primary gallery selling place.

The costs for posting and advertising are much more effective for crafters at Etsy. I will keep the odd piece on Ebay to satisfy the Ebay customers, and to keep advertising the gallery.

The Newest Miniatures I Am Finishing Up!

I am happy to announce that Peepers and CordeRoy are sold, so that means I have to get crackin' on the next items to put up in the gallery......

I just finished this tiny baby lop-eared bunny. I haven't named her yet. I decided I better make more HER creatures as I have had too many HIM ones. So this one is a SHE. Her name will be announced when she is launched on the Motivated Motion Gallery Site. She should be up on the site in around 24 hrs.

I am putting the final touches on "Weird Al-paca Yankovick". Which is my crazy curly haired Alpaca with a cute face. I still have to decide which eyes I am using on this one. I am trying to choose between the realistic taxidermy eyes, or my glass bead eyes.....
I am also working on my first cat. This one is a seal point siamese cat. He is an anitomical model which is spoken for already. I will post him on the gallery, but he will be marked sold when he is finished.

Yep that is right!
We are prepping some videos for the Needle Felting Gallery and this Blog.
I will introduce you to needle felting and show you how I create a piece.
The piece I do in the video will go on auction right away, so the person who wants it because they saw it made can bid on it right away!
I am very excited!

We have decided to create kits and have online classes you can access with each kit, so you now do not have to feel isolated from instruction.

Stand by for the videos. All being well they will be on the site within two weeks!

WOW!

What an amazing night!
Carl and I have busied ourselves tonight with getting the new needle-felted items up on the Motivated Motion Gallery website.
For the first time I have chosen to post on Etsy in my shop that I have had registered for over a year.
Everything I will post on Etsy at this time will be charity pieces.
100% of the profits of these pieces will go to the growth of the York Region Animal Rescue League run by Nicole Dente.
She is on my friends list in my facebook. So please make friends with her and join her charity groups. I can tell you all the money she raises goes to help local animals with rescue, vet care and adoption.

Within 5 min of posting him on Etsy he sold!!
My Friend, and miniature collector bought him! I am thrilled to bits! She was the person who inspired me to make an owl after she told me a story about her family.
I was able to send her a sneak peek of the page right from the Etsy shop and she scooped little Peepers up right away!
There is a tear in my eye to know that I can give York Region Animal Rescue League 100% of the profits of this sale ASAP! Yipppeeeeee!

What Has Grown From My Imagination This Month....
Needle Felted OOAK At Their Finest!

I have been busy trying to co-ordinate a few pieces to be dedicated to my friend's charity.
I have decided that I will be putting two pieces up on Etsy solely to raise funds for Nicole Dente's efforts to help animals who need aid and rescue in York Region.

So next week Peepers the Owl and Harper the Harp Seal will be sold on Etsy with all of the profits going to Nicole's Charitable Efforts. I am personally holding a stake in helping Nicole get her Non Profit Status so she can then get corporations to help her efforts.
She has a great number of folks world wide who buy her products knowing the money goes to get vet care for abused animals, to find them homes or foster homes while they recover.
Please consider buying Peepers and Harper when they go up on the Motivated Motion Gallery.
I will only take $7.00 max to cover the materials, as the eyes are the big cost. I am donating my art and time to this and the rest of the money of the purchase will go straight to help Nicole get recognition for her work creating Unchain Ontario Dogs and York Region Animal Rescue League. The Newest Pieces I Have On Display!

These are the items currently shown on www.motivatedmotion.com gallery for auction on ebay. Plus an example of the commissioned pet repicas I do is this first pic.

These are made of 100% natural fibre (e.g. wool) with glass eyes. I hand make these One Of A Kind miniatures using a barbed needle. There are no fillers or wires. It is just wool fluff worked into itself until it takes shape. Each piece starts out 2/3 bigger than the finished product!
An average piece will take 12 hrs of labour.

Each piece comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

This is the Gallery Blog for Motivated Motion

Lynn Tucker opened the Motivated Motion Gallery in 2007.
She had invented a knitting tool called Swirl-locks and Swirl-tips and she was looking for a place she could post a tutorial on them and also market them.
Her little cottage industry began.

She is a knitter and enjoys all sorts of fibre art, so she began to put a few of her knitted works into the Gallery as well. Then she noticed the needle-felting miniatures were selling very well in ebusinesses, so she thought she would try to market her miniatures..........
In 2008 she reloaded the site with all her works and is now selling her finished works, commissioned pieces and her charity fundraising pieces through Ebay and Etsy through her site.

This blog is the place to come to find the newest projects or events, and to get an idea of how her life is changed by this new phase of her life.
